Help Kids Learn to Swim!

$85.

That is the cost of one swim lesson per child here at TVRPD.

One swim lesson helps a child learn to float, become more aware of their surroundings, and most importantly, begin learning how to swim.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1–4. Many people don’t realize that water is all around us — and unfortunately, children can drown in more places than just a pool. Bathtubs, jacuzzis, buckets of water, lakes, and other everyday environments can all pose serious risks. That is a frightening reality.

The good news? This is preventable when children learn water safety and swimming skills.

The American Red Cross reports that 79% of children in households with incomes under $50,000 have few to no swimming skills. That means many children are missing out on a fundamental life skill. They miss opportunities to attend pool parties, join swim teams, go to the beach, and most importantly,  stay safe around water.

Together, we can change that.

Every summer, families in Tehachapi face financial barriers that prevent their children from accessing swim lessons. Through your donation, we can remove that barrier right here in our community. Help us make a lasting impact this summer by donating to provide swim lessons for children in low-income families. Your support can give a child confidence, opportunity, and a skill that can save their life.

Be the reason a child learned to swim this summer.
