Over The Line (10U)

The image is a logo for a baseball event titled "Over The Line" set for 2026, featuring a baseball and a player silhouette.

Over the line is a fun game that allows the players of varying ability levels to advance their skills without the pressure of an “official game” setting. This program is considered an organized “sandlot” style of playing the game.

This program will be once a week for 6-weeks.

When: Every Sunday, September 20th-October 25th
Time: 4:00PM-5:30pm
Age: 10U
Where: West Park - Uli Field (Mata Field if Necessary)
 Participants: Max 20 players
Cost:  $20 (in-district), $26.67 (out-of-district) - includes t-shirt
Registration:  Closes 09/17/26 5:30pm
Rules

A batter stands at home plate and tries to hit the ball past "the Line," a boundary roughly 35-40 feet out, and between two foul lines. There is no pitcher opposing the batter. The ball is pitched by the batter's own team (hitting tee option as well)

Field layout: Home plate marks the point of the field. Two foul lines extend outward from home at an angle, defining fair territory between them. The Line crosses the field ahead of home plate; everything short of it is dead territory. Beyond the Line, fair territory is divided into 3 zones — near, middle, and deep — with one fielder assigned to each.

Batting: Every player in the lineup bats each inning. Two delivery methods are permitted:

1. Underhand toss — a team volunteer tosses the ball to the batter from just outside the foul lines, roughly 6-8 feet away

2. Hitting tee — the ball is placed on a tee for the batter to hit

Each batter receives up to 3 swings per at-bat. A swinging miss, foul ball, or dead ball counts as a strike. 3 strikes is an out.

Live ball: The ball is live once it crosses the Line, whether on the ground or in the air. A ball that dies before reaching the Line is a dead-ball foul.

Fielding: Three fielders take the field per side, one per zone. No two defenders may occupy the same zone. A cleanly fielded grounder or fly ball is an out.

Scoring

Fielded by the near defender before advancing further - 1 (single)

Gets past the near defender, fielded by the middle defender - 2 (double)

Gets past the first two defenders, fielded on the ground by the deep defender - 3 (triple)

Flies over the deep defender's head untouched - 4 (home run)

A dropped ball (grounder or fly) is scored as if it had not been fielded, based on where it would have landed. A ball dropped by a deep fielder that then rolls past them is a home run.

Fielding rotation: No player may sit out defense in two consecutive innings. Bench time is divided evenly across the roster

Game Length

45-minute games after 30 minutes of warm up and skills training.
